The sad state of comedy films
The Comedy Awards, Comedy Central’s stab at becoming THE comedy authority and validator, taped Saturday night in New York. Bill Murray showed up, David Letterman and Eddie Murphy received vaunted awards, the usual suspects won things, and much merriment was had.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Pete Holmes do a bad set. He’s just so goofy and affable that even if his material weren’t already great, it’d be easy to cut him some slack. But his material is great; he’s so attune to what makes him funny, and plays right to it. At the very least, watch the first “cool dad” bit and try not to crack a smile.
